My Yahoo Mail hasn't pushed automatically to my iPhone in several days now. Are others having this issue? Any suggestions on what to do?

:)Hi Marc, Yahoo is finicky for me also, but this goes back to when i still was using my bb9650. Yahoo would send email, then it wouldnt. Some days i'd rec'd email and some days it just wasnt working(rarely tho). Now i see the same pattern on my iPhone on occassion but not often. SO i know its not my phone because my AOL works fine. Ever since Yahoo changed their TOS a few mths ago, that when i started noticing the difference btw.

Also with Yahoo, sometimes i get the "connection to server failed-cannot get email" now with that idk if my wifi has lost signal for a moment at that second when i open my email for yahoo, or if its Yahoos servers. Because i'm then able to back out and go right back in, & if there was mail to come in it shows up. Crazy i tell ya !!

So, just a suggestion that i can think of for you that may help. Delete that Yahoo account from your iPhone, do a reset (hold home button and top right button down together till you see the apple then let go--ignore the 'slide to power off'). Once you reboot, re-add that email address and see how it goes. If your still having issues i'd suggest calling Apple or going to the GB if you have one near you and see what they have to say.

I haven't had any issues with Y! for the last 2 months. May be it is some server overload or problem.

But one thing is for sure - with hotmail there are ALWAYS problems.

i dont use hotmail at all. But with my Yahoo, when a hiccup does occur its only when i'm on wifi. And i have noticed in the past month there have been things going on in my area with the internet here and there. Like today, i'm sure with all the Christmas gifts and everyone accessing the net, our connection has been up then goes out for 10mins, then comes back, then goes back out for 2 mins. etc. On any 'normal' day this doesnt happen on the other hand, so thats why i'm not worried about it right now:)

EDIT: just to add, i'm accessing my Yahoo mail from my laptop atm, and its acting wonky....

I haven't had an recent issues with Yahoo but you are right...Hotmail is always a problem.

Try deleteing Yahoo and re-add it. I have had problems a couple of times over the years and that's what usually works for me.

Mine's working fine, but I have noticed it is a tad bit slow, and not as "on the ball" as my other accounts.
Hotmail still exists??? lol...that's so...90's.

I have had problems since converting to iPhone 4 from my Blackberry. I have always done fin with Yahoo on my Berry and receiving it timely on others sources (i.e., PC, etc.).

Whenever I have a period of delay, I have tried one of the many things (i.e., reboot, restore, delete/readd, etc) and that will clear things, temporarily.

I have been frustrated with it and have finally gotten in touch with a senior specialist for iOS. While I cannot tell for sure that the "problem" is being investigated, I feel confident that this support rep will continue to update my case. Whenever I identify delayed push mail, I take a screenshot and email it to him to include in my case file.

The rep's name/contact info I have been dealing with is:

Robert Kall
Apple iOS Senior Specialist
rkall@apple.com

I am so frustrated at times that I am thinking about changing my Yahoo mail to Fetch/15 from Push. I don't think that would effect my battery enough to make a difference (heck I am doing tons of manually update now just to make sure I am up to date), I may leave it on Push for now so I can get a few more screen grabs to send to my case file with Apple.

Robert did mention that the general release of the iOS update is due within a couple of weeks. While he is not sure there is anything in there that might help my situation, he did suggest waiting for that to see if there are any changes. He also noted as a possibility swapping out the phone, but I would rather not do that unless I felt fairly strongly that this was the right course of action.

Who knows what will come of this if anything. At least I feel like someone is listening.

I had this problem early on when I was playing with settings. In your mail settings, under Fetch New Data, first, make sure Push is On (obviously), but also make sure Fetch is not set to Manually. Even though it shouldn't matter, I found that even though my Yahoo account was set to Push, it wouldn't work when I set the Fetch interval to Manually; when I chose one of the other settings, Push started working again.

In too deep to Yahoo at the moment to do that, though I have thought about it.

Might be a pain to switch everything at first but IMO it will be worth it. I had issues with both live.com and yahoo and just find gmail to be SO much more dependable and it is integreated into much more than the other 2... IMO.

I suspect that you/we/everyone using yahoo on iOS are experiencing a Push mail failure. Setting Fetch to any time interval other than "manual" should not make a difference, if Push is working. On the settings screen for Fetch it says something like "Fetch is for when Push is unavailable or for apps that do not support push."

Perhaps you think you are getting push but maybe you were experiencing a big push failure and having Fetch set gives you the feeling that you are getting pushed. The obvious test to this is when getting new mail, looking at the timestamp on the mail compared to the time of day on your phone. If they are off by around 15 minutes, then you know push is not working correctly and it was the fetch that pulled in your mail.

Perhaps also there is some serious issue in how Apple is using imap for Yahoo.

Just a thought, in the interim, while you are getting the issue fixed, does Yahoo have the option to forward your mail to another account while still keeping it in yahoo? I have used this before when I needed. It's not a long term solution, but might get you the mail until the problem is solved.

IIRC, you have to pay for Yahoo mail plus to do that. Perhaps I am making it out to be worse than it is.....And while it sucks and can be frustrating, it is not all the time.

THANK YOU! I tried this and it worked and my Yahoo e-mail is pushing again!!!

:)Yw !! and i think i jinxed myself lol. Yahoo has been playing games with me since yesterday:rolleyes: I rec'd a couple of PM's yesterday and i always have them notify me by email. Well for those same PM's i must've rec'd email notification 4 times for EACH of them !! Even after i deleted them, the doubles etc. kept coming through. Now today, whenever i opened up my yahoo email i kept getting "connection to server failed--cannot not get mail" BUT my emails would still come through....go figure !! Even on my laptop yesterday, Yahoo was acting up a bit.

SO i took my own advise, deleted that Yahoo acct, rebooted and then re-added it. So far it *seems* ok.

What leads me to believe that this is a Yahoo issue is i have 2 AOL email accts on my phone also & dont see these kind of issues. I also keep all of my emails set to fetch every hour as well. I don't use push at all.

Chiming in briefly, you guys do know about this: Is Yahoo Mail down? Check status and report outages at downrightnow - user-reported status updates for all to see (I've posted it before regarding Yahoo email), and the site's reporting service disruptions for most of the past several days, including today (about 8 hours ago).

As for Apple/Yahoo, Apple's got a special "deal" with Yahoo for IMAP mail and push notifications for email on iOS (not push email). Regardless of these email issues, I gave up on Yahoo email (paid and free) - the service just doesn't work well enough for me no matter the mobile platform. I stick to Gmail (free) and hosted Exchange (work). Good luck.

Exactamundo! Yahoo is not true push mail. Just the notifications. So likely what us happening that when the code was written, I bet something did not hold true to the IMAP standard, resulting in our "issues" we have been seeing. The bug question is who owns up to this and who wants to make the time to fix, if either of them do......
