Would an onto-core 2008 Mac Pro be a decent gaming computer?

Right now I'm using a 2011 MBP with a 2.7 GHz i7 and an Intel HD 3000, which absolutely blows when it comes to playing anything, heck my 2009 white unibody MacBook blows it out of the water.
