does the 1st gen ipad1 stream videos from youtube or is it too weak?

The original iPad can stream videos. Having said that, the problem you *may* run into is updated apps no longer being compatible with the 1st generation iPad and the older iOS version it runs.

My daughter's mother-in-law was just asking my she could not install any apps on her iPad. Turns out it's a first gen device and the iOS version maxes out at v5.1.1 - and there are very few apps for that anymore.
