Will older bluetooth devices show battery status in Notification sections?

Installed iOS 9 on iPhone 5s. Can not get bluetooth devices to show battery status. Is this a problem with the phone or using older Bluetooth devices? I have a Fitbit Charge HR and Motorola S9 - HD Stereo headset I want to monitor the battery levels.

It's not the phone - it's the Bluetooth device - they have to be made to support the battery indicator functions on the phone... not all devices will support it regardless of age of the device.
