Will my AT&T contract for iphone 6 get terminated if i unlocked it?

I am planning of getting iphone 6 from USA AT&T locked and hoping it to get unlocked here in India and planning to use it.
Do unlocking the iphone will break the AT&T contract? OR the person staying in USA need to pay for that per month contract amount even if the phone is unlocked?
