Will I be able to sidestep iOS 8.4.1 and go straight to iOS 9?

I have an iPhone 6. I have not updated to iOS 8.4.1 because I do not use the Music app, and it appears to just be Music app upgrades. When iOS 9 is released will I be able to go straight to iOS 9 without upgrading to the 8.4.1?

I believe that is the way it works. You will be prompted to download the latest version of iOS available. In this case that will be iOS 9.0.

I believe you can but those Music app updates will be in iOS 9. What are you trying to avoid?
The only reason not to update is if you are jail broken.

I can't remember but there may have been some stability fixes in 841 sometimes there are and it's not mentioned.

8.4.1 is more than just the music app... there's nothing to fear about it if you don't use the music app...

I didn't subscribe to Music and 8.4.1 is fine. There were improvements. Always is. Sometimes security patches we don't know about. You can turn Music off as well as Apple Music Connect.

Yes. I've never installed iOS 8.4 or 8.4.1 on my iPhone 6 Plus and I've been running the iOS 9 Dev betas since June.
