Will an iPhone locked to Sprint work on a Boost Mobile network?

Thinking of up-grading and can get a good deal, but the iPhone is locked to the Sprint network and have a Boost Mobile active account.

Phones locked to Sprint are just that...and they(Sprint) won't do anything about it.

When was it purchased? Is it owned free and clear? I heard that Feb 2015 Sprint and others would start complying with new unlocking guidelines. Haven't read any news on it lately though.
