Wifi indicator changes to 3G and then back?

Ill be fully connected to wifi at home or at work but when I unlock my phone, it will say 3G, then immediately change to the wifi symbol. Is there any reason why it does this? Is there an connection issue or just the indicator refreshing is messed up and should worry about it.

The iPhone will default to wifi is it available. That is a good think in this age of limited data plans. You can always turn off wifi if you want to only use 3G

When you lock the phone and it goes into standby, it'll drop off wifi and switch to cellular. Then when you unlock you're back on wifi. No issues or irregularities.

thats weird. i figured if on wifi, it would stay on wifi vs 3G since i figured wifi consumes less battery.
