Wi-Fi question

Is anybody familiar with panoramic dual band Wi-Fi from Cox communications? They advertise it as the newest & upcoming technology but it’s not. The funny thing is before I got that piece of equipment my netgear router & my 3.0 modem from Cox worked a lot better. When they come out they find nothing wrong with my Internet. My question is your Wi-Fi extenders/boosters really work and if so what do you recommend?
