Why won't my iPhone upgrade after the update?

I phone won't upgrade after update

I have just bought an I phone 5c from ebay, second hand. I turned the phone on and it was working fine. I then chose to update the software to IOS 9. The phone now says slide to upgrade and when i do this and enter my pass code it begins to load up and gets to halfway and then comes up with the slide to upgrade screen again. I have seen the way to solve this is through factory resetting the phone, however, i do not have an i tunes account with this phone and i am unable to set one up because my phone will not unlock or respond when plugged in

The presumed fix is to do a back up so that it can flush out the things it needs to and after that one time it should work fine. Back ups from then on are at your discretion.

there's a new iOS 9.0.1 just released to fix this.... put your device in DFU mode and restore via iTunes.

I was just reading about this update here on iMore so thank you Keith for the heads up.
