Why won't music resume on song?

Music will not resume on song

Since the upgrade to iOS8.3, when playing music from my playlist, music will not resume on the song where I left off. I either have to remember what song was the last played or start over from the first song on my playlist. What am I missing?

I just tested this on a iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.3. Here are my results:

If I don't kill the Music app, the song will continue where I left off; however, if I "do" kill the app, I have to start the playlist over.

Always been like this for me. Otherwise not sure what the OP is talking about.
