Why won’t the GPS in my iPhone reroute when in a traffic jam?

Please help me make sure my iPhone gps can reroute if there is a traffic jam.

Too little information.

It's the app that reroutes. That app are you using? Waze seems to be the most used and it does reroute if it detects traffic issues.

Also, the app has to be giving directions to a destination for traffic reroute to work. If you're just driving around with the app open and not using navigation then the app doesn't know that you need to avoid traffic issues.

And last, with all the IOS updates lately, have you also updated all your apps?

I doubt the navigation will re-route from its current path if it cannot detect a route that is faster than the one you’re on. Remember, there are a lot of vehicles that are equipped with navigation and those vehicles may have already re-routed its drivers to the point where when you came along, there was no benefit to it.

There’s nothing like hearing “ return to the route” When we stop for gas or when we take a shortcut that Siri may not know about!
