Why when I receive a iMessage and I don't open it, 5 minutes later the message is marked as read?

Every time I receive a iMessage and don't open it, it'll be marked as read at least 5-10 mins later. I'm thinking it has something to do with the other person I'm sharing my iCloud account with. Any tips?

You're probably right. Having said that, why don't you and the other person have separate iCloud accounts? Doing so would allow for a certain level of privacy. As for any tips, yes, stop sharing an iCloud account...
