Why so many FinalCut Libraries? (each 280MB)!

Why do I have some many FInal Cut Libraries? I just need one, where all the video works are located. Unfortunately I have many other libraries, automatically named with a date and took much space from my mac. Should I just erase all of them and keep the last one (most recently updated)?
