I think RAM does matter in iOS, just not remotely as much as it does in Android. ...but that makes sense since you do have a bit more control in Android. You could have a launcher and widgets taking up a lot of RAM or just keep things simple. My 6+ does provides a much better experience with 1GB of RAM than I've seen Android phones with 1GB provide.

This is my experience too. I get better general performance out of my 6+ than I did out of my S6 or Nexus 6 with 3gb of RAM.

Of course it matters. Android devices keep apps and browser tabs running in the background for multitasking far more than the iPhone is capable of. This isn't even a new topic up for fresh debate, it's been common knowledge in the tech community for years.

Besides iOS in dire need of a more updated ui besides Ives silly icon switch which was a half hearted effort, this is the only area Apple needs to keep up with Android. And better app interoperability. And Siri.

That's the one thing I will disagree with. I don't think that Apple needs a UI refresh at all. I really like the design of it and how it functions. When I was on Android I noticed that I used widgets less and less as the years went by until I finally just had one widget with a single bottom row of icons and used the app drawer mostly to find what I needed.
