why is my phone stuck in recovery mode?

I purchased a Iphone 6s from someone and found out it's jail broke when I plugged it into my Itunes now the phone is stuck in recovery mode what can I do now? Is the phone broke?

1. Make sure you have the latest iTunes version installed on your computer.
2. Make sure your computer has a solid internet connection.
3. Power off your iPhone.
4. Put your iPhone in DFU mode.

A. Turn off the device.
B. Hold the Power button for 3 seconds.
C. Hold the Home and Power buttons for 10 seconds.
D. Release the Power button but keep holding the Home button.
After about 15 seconds you will be alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode.
E. Make sure the device screen is blank and no logos are present

5. Select to restore and update your iPhone via iTunes.

Note: you may have to perform these instructions a few times to get it to take, especially if the previous owner used the "Erase All Contents and Settings" option to erase a jailbroken iPhone.
