Why is my iPhone having difficulty deleting my Gmail account?

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.0, phone is not jail broken.

I'm trying to delete a Gmail account and all that happens is the spinning graphic that never ends. Any one know how to fix this? Thank you.

Have you tried resetting and deleting again?

How much data did you have on the device in regard to your Google account? In any case, a reboot should get you back on track as stated above.

Thanks! I combined both of your suggestions and the problem is solved. I deleted all of the data, rebooted my iPhone, and was able to delete all the unwanted calendar entries. Thanks again!
