Why is my iPad 2 not charging?

Ipad2 turned off when down to 2% and cant get it to charge now

Connect the device to a computer that's on or a wall socket and let it charge undisturbed for about 15 minutes. Afterwards, press the power button to see if the device will power on. If so, great. If not, press both the home and power buttons until you see the Apple logo, but no more than 20 seconds or so. If it powers on, let it boot to the home screen and then let the device charge to capacity. If it still does not power on, make a Genius Bar appointment with the nearest Apple Store.
