Why is it all of a sudden I have a timer in my message line which is grayed out?

all of a sudden I have a timer in my message line which is greyed out

this seems to have appeared after I was playing around with the camera...please help? Thank you

You maybe gave hit the audio or video record by mistake. Try deleting it with the backspace key.
