Why have my older emails disappeared and new ones are not showing

I have an iphone 4s and all the emails just disappeared last night. Now I hear the notice that I have a new email but the screen remains blank.

Go to Settings - Mail, Contacts, Calendars and then see if there is a setting for "Mail Days To Sync". If there is, change the setting to display older email. As fI'm r the new email not displaying, try rebooting your phone.
