Why has my photos appear to have been deleted from my iPhone?

Yesterday I ran an update on my phone. After the update was installed I had lost both my music and Photos. I have restored the music through iPhoto but have not backed up the photos. Are they still somewhere on the phone. If they are how do I get them back.

Did you happen to backup ur phone? If you did, just restore from backup

They should be backed up in iCloud. Is your phone set to back up when it's plugged in and asleep? It does this by default. Did you turn it off?

Log in to iCloud.com on your computer and see if they're there.

I think it will be hard for you to restore your phone data. Maybe you will need some recovery software. My friend got his data back on this way.
