Why has my iphone 4s jammed while updating

My screen sows the words itunes and has a picture of it looks to be a charger and then it shut off completely, this was on friday, as a result I have not had the use of my mobile all week end

Sounds like it is in DFU mode or Default Firmware Update, Restore to iTunes and you should be ok.
