Why don't I get notifications with sound or led flash. iPhone 5

When I lock my phone, there's no sound when I get messages, even though all sounds are turned on.. Also my led flash doesn't notify me on messages when locked, but my flash light works when in use. How do I fix it??

Look at the top of your phone near the battery indicator. If you see a moon icon then Do Not Disturb is turned on which would explain your issue. Open your control panel & hit the moon to turn it off.
