Why doesn't the number pad work on voicemail?

number pad doesn't work on voicemail

Family Mobile is carrier. Bought new Samsung 6S edge +; Verizon based. Inserted old SIM card. Now having periodic problems with voicemail not recognizing the phone's number pad.
