Why doesn't my iPod touch 5 battery reach 100 ?

My iPod touch 5 battery won't reach 100% .

why would that be, it says 100% charged but when I unplug it it immediately says 99%.

You need to calibrate the battery to cure that behavior of the battery charge reader. Use the iPod until it runs out of juice and goes off by its own, then plus in the charger and let it charge till full, unplug the charger and do a hard reset, then plug it again for 10mn or so and the iPod should now read correctly the percentage of charge within the battery.
