why does the red squiggly line keep coming back

I use the 'add to dictionary' app quite often and it worked really well for a while. Now, for some reason guaranteed to confuse a silver surfer like myself, when I reopen a document the red squiggles are back, dammit. How do I make it a permanent application...... SIMPLY AND EASILY PLEASE??!!
