Why do my iPhone apps' settings keep resetting?

Hello,

I have recently encountered an issue on my iPhone that several apps (such as Whatsapp and Google Photos) reset after I force close them. It didn't happen before and I didn't update the iOS version on my iPhone 7. Does anyone has any idea why it happens or how to fix that?

Reset to what state exactly?
What do you set and how does it get reset?
