Why do I keep getting a pop-up saying "can't get mail because not connected to the server"

I don't know much about trouble shooting problems. Just changed from an iPhone 4 to a Gallaxy s5.......many problems since.
I do know that I have an internet connection.
Please help.....I'd like to get eMails on iPad.

If you want help with something other than an iPhone... like a Galaxy s5, adnroidcentral.com is the place you ought to be...

As far as the iPad goes... it's as simple as entering info into the settings app... an email address, password... and consult with the email service provider should any special settings beyond default be required to use an iPad on their service.
