Why do I have to keep my finger on the microphone button while composing an audio iMessage?

iMore Question

The previous operating system on the Iphone (iOs9.x) make composing an iMessage easy in that you didn't have to keep you finger on the microphone icon while composing a message. Now with iOs 10, you need to keep your finger down on the microphone icon while speaking, or else you lose the connection and it won't translate your dictation in text.

When I compose and iMessage or reply to an iMessage via dictation, I do NOT have to continually press the mic. I'm running iOS 10.1 dev beta 1 on my iPhone 7, by the way.
