Why do I have to constantly approve my wife’s App Store purchases?

iMore Question

We have family sharing on, with me in charge, my wife as “parent/guardian” and our two sons as adults. Whenever my wife attempts to make an App Store purchase, I have to approve it first. She has money in her account, but I still have to approve it. How can I fix this?

Sorry, that doesn’t work. I can switch her to “Adult” and back to “Parent/guardian,” but that’s what I did before. It still asks me to approve her purchases.

Have you tried going to Settings - Apple ID - Family Sharing - then scrolling to “ask to buy” to see if it’s enabled for her?

“......if you're a family member and you have your own Apple ID balance, your purchases bill to your personal Apple ID balance. Some purchases, including gifts, can't be billed to Apple ID balance and will be charged to the family organizer's payment method.” [I assume “some purchases” mentioned above will require the approval of the family organizer].

and

Don't want to pay for purchases of a specific adult family member? Remove that person from your family group or turn off purchase sharing for everyone.”
