Why cant I update whatsapp on my iPhone 5 s?

I have been using whatsapp for long. since yesterday whatsapp is asking to update. I click on the update. it asks for apple password. I put it in. streaming happens and asks for apple password streaming happens the same thing is repeated. No update happens and I cant use whatsapp
please help
