Why can't I unlock my iPad air's screen?

I was playing my games in the iPad air and decided to rest 10 minutes.After 10 minutes,i go back to play again ,but i cant unlock my screen at that time,I waited until the second morning.At the second morning,i still can't unlock my screen.

Do you have it password locked or for some reason just cannot open it? Can you explain a bit more just why you cant unlock it?
