Can't activate messages app on my new iPad Air2

I am not able to get messages on my new iPad Air2 which are sent to my email.

When you go to Settings-> messages and try to activate, what error(s) are you getting?

I am having the same issue. It's says unable to connect to iMessage servers. I just got my air 2 coming from a mini 2 and it didn't work on the mini either. I just wiped the iPad and set up as new and works just fine. Could something be wrong with my iCloud backup?

iMessage on the iPad only works if you are connected to WIFI.
