Why can't I access unread emails?

I have 18000 emails unread. Can't make them display.

Can't make them display where? Computer, Phone, iPad? More info would help.

Go to Settings - Mail, Contacts, Calendars - (your email account). If you have a "Mail Days To Sync" option, select it and then select "No Limit".
