Why are old events announcing on my apple watch?

Using Apple watch 1, OS 3.1

My calendar is announcing repeating events from several months ago.

I have repeating notifications on my calendar for daily medications. Mixed in with the current notifications are notifications about those events from September to November, showing those dates.

Can I turn that off? Are these caused by malware?

Based on what you've typed, the Watch is doing what it is suppose to do with the way you have it set up. Yes, you can disable the announcing of your repeated events, but you *may* have to edit the old events with newer dates, but I can't say for certain.
