When I used my iphone 4s this morning I discovered that all my phone contacts were gone. Also, all the events I added to my calendar had disappeared. They still display on my laptop, so they are in the iCloud.

Have you attempted to reboot your phone? Have you tried signing out of iCloud (on your iPhone) and then signing back in?
