Why are Android users so upset by the 5?

i think it has to do with the iphone being a relative disappointment...relative inasmuch as apple is capable of much more.

That may very well be true, but until consumers stop buying millions of Apple devices year after year, why would the company stop doing what they are doing and in the manner they are doing it?

good point, but i was speaking to why i think android users are upset...a better iphone leads to a better samsung copy.

If Apple had made the iPhone 5 look similar to an old school Blackberry device with a physical keyboard, but the inside of it was technologically superior, would you consider buying it?
Sure. I remember a lot of people complaining that it didn't have a keyboard. I could live with it. My mom bought me a keyboard for my 4. I just don't use it. :)

Scores of posts all over FB by Android users how uneventful and stupid the iPhone 5 is by Android users. If they claim their own OS and phones are so much superior why such an outcry? It floor me how upset they are by todays announcement.

Because many of them aren't happy unless they're criticizing something.

As someone who has experience with all of the major OSes carried by Verizon, I'm not disappointed by the iPhone 5 itself, but by iOS6. There is no doubt that the iPhone 5 is a stellar piece of hardware but I was hoping that Apple would release some new functionality that would inspire others to step their game up. From what I saw today, Apple didn't unveil a single feature that hasn't been done before by Android, BlackBerry, or Windows Phone. It is apparent that Apple has definitely made a product that will continue to sell well to those that like iOS, but I think that going forward, they will have a more difficult time converting users of a competing OS.

Thankfully Nokia has a phone for the tiny niche of users that are hell bent about using gloves when they want to use their phone...and want a yellow (lmao) casing around it while trying to be a cinematographer using a cell phone when they really have no need for the feature that is being touted as such a detrimental feature. Also don't be surprised if your precious Nokia is missing any actual use for NFC as well.

By the time the Lumina 920 gets released (sometime in November) I have to wonder if anyone will even remember the phone. Plus the Lumina 920 runs Windows Phone 8, so their won't be any apps, you'll have to use WP7 apps.

In two words:

penis envy.

I think Sean pretty much nailed it in the second post of this thread.

It's nothing new...every year the out pouring of genuine frustration from Android fan boys is a hilarious event to watch. They are so concerned that people KNOW they think their Galaxy S III is the best phone in the world that they spend more time talking down the iPhone than they do playing with their own phone itself!

It also has a lot to do with relevancy...for some reason Android radicals desperately need their phone to be the best and most talked about thing in existence (and if it's not, watch out!), and in that, they make it a mission to critically attack anything that gets in their way. You should see the absolutely hilarious things people say about the Windows phones when they were being released on the Android section of reddit.com...you'd think Microsoft sh*t in on their carpet with some of the things said.

This is a crock.... there are phone radicals of EVERY flavor of phone. Its only a problem if you pay attention them.

Why bother? I dont like Justin Bieber..... I dont listen to his music. It doesnt upset me, bother me, or make me ponder why some think he's the cats pajamas.

How is it a crock? We arn't talking about everyone else here, we're talking about the android fanboys getting up in arms. If you don't pay attention to them, why bother joining this discussion? The fact that you ignore it doesn't make it vanish from existence.

I joined this discussion because I am a fan of cell phones period. I like, android, iOS, Win Mobile. All of them.

Your original post in this thread infers (at least to me) that this is a one-way street. While you dont say so directly, its easy to read between the lines.

If you dont feel that way then I apologize and retract everything I have said. If you do feel that way, then I say you are wrong.

I have a more important question for you. How does a thermos bottle know whether to keep it's contents hot or cold?

People are always mixing up "infer" and "imply"...I think that's the most important thing to consider here. Implying is what someone else does; inferring is what you as the listener take in as the meaning of whatever someone else is saying. "I inferred from your rant that you despise the iPhone." or "Are you implying that the iPhone isn't a good smartphone?"

Looks like you already have a problem remembering. It's "Lumia," not "Lumina." :p

How won't there be any apps though? Do WP7 apps not count as actual apps? Plus, the WP8 SDK is being given to certain developers so they can start optimizing their apps for WP8.

I notice Android users have an inherit hatred of Apple products. When Android has what Apple has, they love it. But when Apple has a good product, they can't enjoy it.

I'm not saying the criticism isn't valid. Tge iPhone 5 is not a huge step, and it barely even catches up. I mean, two years ago with the iPhone 4 Apple talked big on there Retina display, and now they don't care about HD? And where are the must ha e features others need to copy? Maybe it's too much for me to ask and expect, but i want Apple to lead the industry.

With that said, it's purely genius that the iPhone 5 is the same width as the iPhone 4S. That actually is Apple thinking about the design. Being a forward thinking company. Leading. Problem is, they should have applied that across the board. Not in just one area.

You assumed wrong...in fact, if you go into the off-topic sub forum on this website, you'll see another discussion about this same exact topic, and i stick to my guns, while certainly NOT a one way street (all products have their radical fanboys that blindly support things with no real knowledge of what they are defending), it is plainly obvious that Android fanboys are much more hostile and aggressive towards iPhone fans than vice versa, they actually FLOOD websites (especially after events) with negativity. That's not to say that there arn't iPhone fans foaming at the mouth and attacking on first chance any Android fan that comes to pass...this is going to happen anywhere, but the balance is not equal, it's very lopsided.

Now me personally, I'm one that sways to the side of being happy with what i like, and hoping everyone else does the same...but that encounters a big issue when people come on this website, where the product i personally like is the focus, and they try to tell me that what i prefer is wrong...that my opinion and preference is some how less accurate than their own, and that I'm some how making a mistake by having said opinion. That is what i refer to when i talk about Android fanboys...and they tend to spread like warm butter on bread, especially after an iPhone announcement. Look at the negative posts right now...this happens EVERY year, regardless of which iPhone you look at (besides the first), and then after a few weeks, the trolls leave.

Sean... most of the negativity I am seeing posted on the iPhone 5 Forum are from disappointed 4/4S owners.

You forgot to mention the other side of the coin on fanboyism.... a persecution complex.
