Where is all the mail?

My mail icon on ipad(bought last weekend) has a number of 4,118 in red background and white numbers. Is this the amount of messages? If so where are they? Open it and see only about 7 or 8. Also tried to sign into iCloud but can' t find anywhere to sign in. Please help.

It should represent the number of unread email messages you have. Since you're unable to sign into iCloud, I'm going to assume you have a different email account configured for email. In any case, check your email account's inbox. You may have to log into your email account's web page via a web browser. Alternatively, you can check the Mail settings and see if you have an option similar to "Mail Days to Sync". If you do, select to sync them all.
