Where do my downloaded apps go to?

when i download an app its nowhere to be found

i know i have the app, because when i go to the app store and try to download, it tells me i can open it, but its not on my phone

Maybe it's hidden in a folder. Try searching for it.

I've seen apps not appearing on a phone or pad - until the device was restarted.
It SEEMED that the behaviour got better after Resetting the device and Restoring from backup.

Hmm, I'd check quick search to see if it finds the app. I read up on the "hidden app" bug that some, including me, were using as a feature to hide certain apps. A reboot usually brings it out of app limbo, if that's what's happened.

What feature are you talking about? I've never heard of a "hidden app" feature. Maybe on a jailbroken phone.
