When will Apple fix the 'other' memory issue

This has been ongoing for numerous iOS devices where 'other' memory builds and build, taking up significant space on your device meaning you have to wipe and restore to recover the lost space.
It seems incredible that this hasn't been addressed yet and just the other day I had to restore my iPad which had 6k in 'other' memory.
When will they finally get round to fixing this annoying flaw in the iOS system? Other operating systems don't seem to suffer the same problem.

I too would like to see a remedy for this but we can avoid some of the growth by deleting our email trash bins and making sure we have a good signal during back ups. But in the end it will have to be addressed

We had a real problem in webOS where the application database would grow to the point of crashing your device and deleting all your data. So in light of that iOS "other" issue is not that big of a deal

It's an annoyance but for me a minuscule one. I'm sorry that it was such a huge issue in your iPad. That was a large amount of lost storage.

I had to do a Restore on my iPhone 5 (16BG total storage, less than 12 available after iOS8) to reclaim over 2GB of space. And even after that, "Other" is still taking over 1.3GB of space.

I don't even know how much "other" I may have. I have no working computer to check it. Much of the "other" is sometimes built up messages from iMessage. It seems that when one lets them build up to a gig or two, then they delete them, some remains in "other". I keep my messages deleted. I may have a little "other", but not much.

On my 16gb iPads it happens all the time makes you wonder if they actually use their devices .. I bet they don't notice the issue because they all have 64gb and higher models

A lot of third party apps, especially social photo sharing apps, leave lots of items in cache. I found a nifty but slow Mac app called PhoneClean that will clean out caches without having to restore. I don't have the link but it is available in the Mac App Store.
