when I make a call I do not here anything unless I put speaker on

I have started with my i phone 5 s . When ever I make a call I do not here the ringer sound unless I press speaker on. My voice is heard by the opposite party but I do not here their voice.

The the speaker in the earpiece is most likely bad.
