I had What’s App for a while,it did not offer me much, then Facebook bought it and I deleted it. I have had unlimited texts for years and before that 500 a month,so no real benefit, iMessage seems to shoot an SMS off to whoever is off system perfectly well.

WhatsApp is secure. It offers end to end encryption just like iMessage. This means even WhatsApp can't see your messages. I use it personally and have for years and see no reasons to discontinue it's use.

I agree. Many iPhone users use it as well. Just because it’s owned by Facebook doesn’t mean it’s bad. It receives funding from Facebook but doesn’t share data with Facebook...heck, as Quis89 said WhatsApp can’t access your message data either. It’s just as secure as iMessage.

Some of these conspiracy theories have gone too far.

Here in Brazil or you use WA or you better throw your smartphone in a thrash can. Sony everybody uses this piece of crap. I really hate it, but have to use in order to talk with who matters to me.

As much as I did not want to, I am now using WhatsApp (for the past month).
Slightly by choice. I often switch between iOS and Android. Thus, to chat internationally, I needed something other than iMessage or FaceTime. And, Skype just would not do, sorry!

Hence, Whatsapp. So, far, so good...

I completely understand. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and I’m glad it’s working well for you.
