WhatsApp search bar not working

Hi guys!
So today when I was scrolling through WhatsApp, I wanted to look for a particular conversation. So when I entered a few words from that conversation, nothing popped up! As a matter of fact, I usually don't delete WhatsApp convos. The search bar in my WhatsApp would only show something if I type people's names.
Is there any other way of fixing this?
I cannot keep scrolling back to old conversations!

I never had the need to perform a search in WhatsApp.
Having said that, I hope somebody with more knowledge comes along with a solution.
