What's up with all the thread locking?

I agree that sometimes threads need to be locked but frankly it's gotten ridiculous. Are there some new moderators that are just that intolerant and are super trigger happy to lock threads left and right?

Why have a message board if topics get lost all the time and forcing us to one or two "approved" threads??

It is to maintain some semblance of order and avoid multiple, duplicative discussions and hopefully maintain decorum.
