I loved the look of the PowerBooks. I was so envious of them but was in college during that era and no way I could afford one. I used a VAIO for most of the 2000s and it was a nice computer but looking back, I'm surprised I didn't go iBook. I think my Windows experimenting made me appreciate OS X even more!

Considering the cost of a VAIO I'm surprised you didn't go iBook either. I worked for Circuit City 1998-2000 and we saw so many returns on those things.

We had CompUSA around here (well and Circuit City, a Gateway store, and one other chain). All that's left now is Best Buy.

My local CompUSA was actually really good. They did this financing deal and combined their extended warranty, which basically did free tech support. We didn't have an Apple Store yet. I ended up replacing XP with Ubuntu around 2008. CompUSA was gone and my extended service was done by then anyway. That was the last time I used Windows for anything more than gaming compatibility.
