What to do when the screen on my iPad is frozen?

...i can open all of the icons (they are Verrrrry slow) but when one comes onto the screen, i can't use it, i.e., it I can't scroll, open another item on the screen, etc. . Any easy solution?

reboot the device- press and hold power and home button- screen will go black- keep holding until apple logo comes up then let go. Hope this helps
