What monitor is suitable for both new (USB-C) and older MacBook Pros?

I'm trying to find an external display that will not have some sort of compromise when connected to either the new 2017 (USB-C) or the old (Thunderbolt 2) 2013 MacBook Pros as I wish to use it with both.

I'm upgrading my old Apple Cinema Display, and I'm want something that will give me 60hz, and colours faithful to what i see on the laptop screen, but at retina quality.

Anyone gone through the process to find the perfect screen for both old & new Pros?

I know that the LG UltraFine 4K Display is not an option for the older machine, so that's out. But is there something out there that *will* do the job, and do it well?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Rob

I've found displays that accept both USB-C and HDMI connections. I've also found many USB-C docks that can then connect to displays via HDMI cables, so such a display would cover you either way - newer or older MBP.

There are USB-C to HDMI adapters you could user to connect the Lightning port on the LD Ultra Fine 4k (or 5k) to the older MBP.
