what is the easiest way to delete multiple contacts on ipad mini

have a lot of contacts on ipad that I no longer need and want to delete. It takes a lot of time to delete one at a time - so I thought there must be an easier way to delete more than one at a time

I haven't found a way to delete contacts in multiples. Actually, I can't think of a platform where I've been able to do that.
