My iphone was jailbroken and then I deleted everything from cydia to the point where I no longer have cydia. I was told that this would unjailbreaak my phone. This did do the trick but it is still impossible to erase content and start over again. Also, my itunes does not recognize that my phone exists so i cant use itunes.

Hi and welcome to iMore both of you. :)

Unfortunately, deleting Cydia will never remove the jailbreak on your device. It will usually cause your device to be completely useless until you restore it to the latest iOS version, which is what you will have to do in this case. This will mean you will lose the jailbreak and the ability to re-jailbreak until one becomes available for the current OS version.

iOS Gravity is correct and here is the link for how to put the phone into DFU mode - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5269891
