What is the best solution for converting sound files from a CD for use on an iOS device?

Which software works best on Mac? Which works best on pc? Or is there a solution which uses iOS directly? Thanks!

On Windows, I use Media Player to convert CDs to MP3s. It's fast and it comes with Windows. It is "Rip CD" in Windows Media player.
